The meaning of life

Currently listening to:
Song -  Lonely Island featuring Akon - I Just Had Sex ( One of the catchiest songs I've heard in a while. Possibly a summer hit? Maybe not one for the kiddies )
Dj Earworm - Like, OMG Baby ( Mash up of many songs. Can't wait for the official 2010 mix though but this will suffice for now )
Taylor Swift - Christmas Must Be Something More ( Just something for the holiday spirit )
Band / Artist - Kina Grannis ( Her voice is so serenading. Sounds similiar to Colbie Caillat *inserts Natasha's failed attempt to act out "Bubbly" in a game of Charades lol* )
Girl Talk ( The musician actually a guy. Yup, just the one guy like Adam Young to Owl City but instead of making happy synthisized music, Girl talk mashes Hip-hop songs. I've listened to his recent album "All Day" The album is such a sample fest which fyi I love! Try 373 overlapping samples over twelve tracks [for navigational purposes] or just one seamless track [how it was meant to be heard]. Mind Blown!

Well I've been busy lately over the past couple of weeks and the rest of the holidays are probably no different. First of all, shoutouts to the Kamath Sisters overseas (Shraddha, Sunaynay and Shilpika) Missing ya heaps! and to my home boy Terina (she just wants to be acknowledged) and finally Chooi Wen cause it's her birthday coming up and here she is buying me a souvenir from overseas! Happy Birthday Choi Sum!
Only photo of us I could find
Much love to the rest of ya over the Christmas holidays! I just want to fit in one last post before 2010 finishes!

So during exam study leave which was a while back (I was busy remember) and here I was, chilling in front of the TV after dinner and like I always do, I start channel surfing.
I was like wtf was I watching TV?! Then I remembered. The internet is capped =(
But then I wouldn't of found Heston's Feasts. One of the best cooking shows if not the BEST on TV! Keeps me interested in cooking, end of story. Cooking should be as exciting as this! Take that MasterChef, Hells Kitchen and Top Chef! Sorry Padma Laksmi

Only reason to watch Hells Kitchen

Only reason to watch Top Chef

The best 30 seconds of my life (inside joke) but Heston is truly a genius!
Moving onto the main point of this whole thing or do you want me to rant about how cool Heston Blumenthal some more? After Heston's Feasts, more channel surfing was done and came across this inspirational speaker by the name of Prem Rawat on a channel I never knew I had (Triangle TV?)
Here he was. This short middle aged in his 30s or 40s in a mahogany suit sitting in front an audience. He had this glint in his eye. I would have flick to a new channel but glad I didn't because this wise man basically changed my outlook on life.

He starts off with "What is the meaning of life?"
A question that stumps us on a day-to-day basis.
A question that goes unanswered
So I asked myself the very question and did some soul-searching

What is the true meaning of our existence?
In the film Equilibrium where Christian Bale slices off Taye Diggs' face along with taking out an entire team of baddies with killer gun moves, one of the most memorable quotes was this conversation between John Preston (Christian Bale) and Mary (Emily Watt) about their existence
I just don't like you that much Taye
Mary: to John Why are you alive?
John: I'm alive. . . I live to safeguard the continuity of this great society. To serve Libria
Mary: It's circular. You exist to continue your existence. What's the point?
John: What's the point of your existence?
Mary: To feel. Because you've never done it, you can never know it. It is as vital as breath and without it, without love, without anger, without sorrow, breath is just a clock. . .ticking
That's one way to see our lives. To become emotionally involved and immersed in life. Just wanting to love and to be loved. It's such a simple thing that is incredibly complex.

Or you can take it from Forrest Gump
"My momma told me life's like a box of chocolates. You don't know what you'll get" Something predictable and something a little unexpected.
Life is what you make of it.

“For all of us who are alive, life is the real issue. Yet so often we judge our existence by the things that happen to us—by whether things are going our way or not. Sometimes we feel strong—strong enough to dictate our future. Sometimes we feel that we can make things happen. Then there are times when we feel totally helpless. But through all the dramas and bumps, there is life. There is the very powerful, very existence of every single human being”

“To live this life, my friends, you have to have a genuine passion. Nothing artificial. To live this life, to love this life, you have to have a genuine passion. People think Kabir was so wonderful because he was uneducated and yet he said all these wonderful things. Do you think it would have been different had Kabir gone to Yale and Oxford? If so, you missed the point. The point isn't whether he was educated or not, because, in the truest sense, he was very educated. More educated than most people. The point is that passion. Maybe you won't be able to write like Kabir, but you can feel the same passion. Passion is the point. That love is the point. That feeling is the point. That is achievable by everyone sitting in this hall, and in the city of London, and on this planet Earth. That passion. That love. That awakening. That joy.”

"People try to define life. You know, all the 900 different things that people have wedged in there. But in reality, life is simply the time between birth and death. That's life. To us, it is a lifetime. But somewhere out in space, it may just be a blink of an eye, that's all. Because of the earth's gravitational pull, time is being slowed down and TA-DA, you have a lifetime. But somewhere out there, it's just this blink of an eye. And in this blink of an eye, you have created complexities that rival the complexities of the universe itself. In a sense, you have outdone the stars, you have outdone the motions of planets. You have outdone the whole principle of how light travels. In your little world, you have created absolutely amazing complexities.

But Prem Rawat summarized the reality of life in three words - To Be Fulfilled
Everyone may have different goals in life but at the core of these so-called goals, they are hoping to achieve the fulfillment of their life. Whether it's focused on relationships, their careers, their lifestyles, they want fulfillment.
"It's something that moves and inspires each human being.
And that is the desire to be fulfilled—not in thought, not in imagination, but in earnest"

"The meaning of life cannot be explained. It must be felt"
"When you die, when you look back, what do you see? What will you remember?"
"The good you've accomplished or the good you've done to others. This contentment is the fulfillment in life
What things did you do to get this far?
These are the questions you ask yourself
when the road ahead seems blurry
when you've lost sense of direction
when you're at the crossroads

What I've taken from this is as long as you're passionate about something and live a happy, fulfilling life, that is what really matters. Nothing materialistic or artificial. Just the genuine article.

It's not always the destination but the journey
You only have one life. Live it!

Sexy people

Currently listening to:
Chasen - One In A Million ( You can't say "you're one in a million" to a girl anymore. There's currently approx 6.8 billion people at this very moment in time. "One in 6.8 billion doesn't have the same ring to it )
Jamiroquai - White Knuckle Ride ( Takes you back to the 80's doesn't it?)
Ironik - Falling In Love ( British rappers sounds funny when they rap )

Well clearly I own a lot of sunglasses but something even better is when people who looks even sexier in them
Share the joys of owning sunnies!

Timmy - Most Likely To Buy The Franchise Sunglass Hut. Thanks guys!
OMG! Shiza drinks? Reshmi's a stunnah!
mmm! Sandwich!
And they lived happily ever after xD

The another milestone

Currently listening to: Greatest Leap - The Best Time Of Your Life
( because MRGS WAS the best time of my life )
Other reminiscing songs include:
Green Day - Good Riddance
Stacie Orrico - There's Gotta Be More To Life
Dire Straits - Walk Of Life
Bowling For Soup - Highschool Never Ends

Ahh! Biology was best in the corridors

Two of the most carefree girls in the world

Will miss you so much Ayham!!

COLLAB!

I know it's not orange, okay?

Can't believe Hithersay didn't tell me off

Chooi's response response

I swear I'm gonna run out of music content to post (lol jk)
Currently listening to:
Song: Mike Posner & Izza Kizza - Kiss Me Thru The Phone ( samples Soulja Boy's track but sounds wayyy better than the original song)
Kid Cudi - Love Stoned Freestyle ( another sample. This time from Justin Timberlake's Love Stoned. Kid Cudi isn't like the usual rapper type and that's why I love his type of music)
Bands / Artist: Tinchy Stryder ( I'm feeling pretty gangsterr today)
Thunderheist ( mean songs to jerk to. FYI Jerkin' is a type of dance. plus ditto previous comment. Gangster!)

People believe what they want to hear. No one likes to be told that they suck at sports or bad at maths or nagged by their mothers but sometimes the truth is not that pretty and hence why people lie.
Choi Sum reckons the concept of "soulmates" is that you can chose your soulmates
There's this scenario that always replays in my head. Let's say there's this couple, John and Mary (trying to be generic here) and Mary may or may not be his soulmate but the relationship is going good, a few fights are okay for a healthy relationship but the opportunity opens up for John to pursue his actual soulmate, would John break up with Mary for him to pursue this so called "soulmate"
No. If he did, he would be an asshole and this is called cheating in my books and I'd gladly beat him up.
But I think this is the reality of a male's brain if this concept is taken truly to heart

Games and then some!

Currently listening to:
Lisa Miskovsky - Still Alive ( Off the game soundtrack of  "Mirrors Edge" which is an first person view through the eyes of Faith, a free runner and using parkour to get from A to B which is awesome irl. Funny picture below )
Portal - Still Alive ( Of course it's from Valve's hit title "Portal". Portal 2 is set to be released in early next year in February. The gameplay already looks really cool with the liquid mechanisms. Funny that it's the same name as the previous song)
Mannie Fresh - Real Big (One of the main song in the game "Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition Remix. A pretty dope song for a pretty dope game )

This is my definative list for gaming. I myself am a very committed gamer and I've played on a variety of consoles so in my opinion, I have a more holistic view on gaming from Nintendo 64 through to Playstation 1 through to Xbox 360. There are games I have not played or not listed but I don't spend every waking hour in front of a TV or computer screen now, do I? God bless Wei-Ho's Atari 1OOO Console where the only game was PONG (which was the epitome of gaming once upon a time)

Damn! Hp low! Medic!
On the Nintendo 64 - GoldenEye OO7
The game that defined the First Person Shooter genre! Ah the good ol' days! I first clocked the game then clocked it again with hacks. There was even an invincibility mode but that's for n00bs. The golden sausage guns were my favourite! They recently remade GoldenEye on the Wii  with better graphics but nothing will ever trump GoldenEye on the N64.

He won't know what hit him >=D
Looks like the Pokemon TCG flopped
On the Nintendo Gameboy Color - Pokemon Red and Blue
Nothing beats a classic like this game.
I've blogged about pokemon before and it still remains near the top of my gaming list if not the best. All my pokemon games are played via an emulator cause
1) I can't afford a DS
2) The game is pricey
3) The convenience of not having to change batteries
4) Hacks

The newest games in the franchise Pokemon Black and White doesn't retain the essence of Pokemon anymore =[
They over extend themselves.
I remember when there were only a handful of items you can keep in your bag but now they have compartments and the compartments have compartments. It's too complex! Back in the simpler days, Saturday mornings = Pokemon Anime.
Man! Ash was my hero! Ritchie was also another favourite character of mine

In the arcades - Marvel Vs Capcom 2
Money not neccessarily wasted but had been taken and never got back ='[
Been a major fan of fighting games. Who didn't want to see Spiderman vs Ryu battle it out?
Hulk against Akuma or Gouki (whatever floats your boat) Morrigan vs Ironman?
Well this list goes on and on.
The new Marvel vs Capcom 3: Clash of Two Worlds looks amazing! More characters to choose from! More locations to fight at! Better graphics! Better controls layout! Can't wait to play it!
Mugen is something that quells my urges in the meantime.
Mugen is a program on my computer that replicates any arcade-styled fighting game but is fully customizable from the music, the background, the lifebar but most importantly, the characters.
I've included some of my favourites

BTW Chuck Norris is invincible and executes OHKOs
On the Playstation One - Tekken 3
One of the best fighting games out there. I can still remember Eddy Gordo's movelist but all time favourite character has to be Marshall Law! Based of Bruce Lee like many other game characters, The rainbow kick is the one move you can spam again and again for a easy victory

Welcome to the annual Bruce Lee look-a-like competition
where the main criteria are "must look buff with no shirt on"
"must make hands signs and whiny noises"

"must be asian"
(Top to bottom - Marshall Law from Tekken, Fei Long from Street Fighter, Jann Lee from Dead Or Alive, Liu Kang from Mortal Kombat)

On the xbox - Ninja Gaiden
One of the goriest and and most difficult games I've played in my entire life! You literally have to be a ninja and possess lightning-fast reflexes to defeat enemies or you'll get your ass handed to you and have your TV stuck with the words "GAME OVER"

This is my kind of headshot

Halo 2

In my opinion, the best Halo game in the entire franchise. Halo Reach was doing it's best to be innovative and some aspects I like but they're trying to hold off Black Ops at best but this game will always be my pinnicle of Halo. May noone forget the mascot of Halo, Master Chief ( John 117 ) *cues the sad halo mjolnir mix

I wonder what will Bungie do next?
Did you have a bowl of stupid for breakfast?
No caption needed
Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition Remix (Traffic lights fail)
This game blended the elements of racing with the element of fun where realism plays a factor but not dominates a game like GranTurismo does and since the game was made by the people who made such games like Grand Theft Auto, the freedom of a sandbox game blends in nicely when cruising. Also, the customization of the cars are insane! From the wheels to the bonnet, to the spoiler and right down to the tints of the car.
Dodging traffic, drifting and evading the police ^^ how did you think I got my licence?

On the Playstation 2 - Naruto Ultimate Ninja 3
A extensive cast of characters right up to Shippuden. The manga is getting to be really interesting with the ninja war underway. Looks like Madara has the upper hand. Who knows. Have to wait to find out

The ways of the pervy sage =D
On the Gameboy Advance - YuGiOh! GX Duel Academy
The easy layout of gameplay and dueling makes this the best YuGiOh! card game to date. I haven't played any of the 5Ds but this one is very simple to play. Apparently, more cooler things happen when you are in Slifer Red then in Obelisk Blue

Flame Wingman + Skyscraper = 3100 ATK + DEF monsters ATK to LP

My Favourite card! Unlimited attack!

Pokemon Troll Version
Using the Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald format as a template, this game combines elements from Gen 1, Gen 2 and Gen 3! One of the most exciting pokemon games where it seems like deja vu but also the opposite. You can get all the starters but the first three starters you can choose from are - Larvitar, Machop and Ralts. Wierd i know. Play it to find out other twists
WTF? Digimon?
On the computer - Portal and Left 4 Dead
Both have sequels which has improved from its predecessors. Left 4 Dead is relatively short by still a good game nonetheless. Brendon introduced me to Portal and now I'm hooked. Portal 2 is going to be awesome. GLaDos is going to play the antagonist again.
I've been playing the Flash Portal game too Click here to play

Aren't I delicious?
The cake is a LIE!
Sooooo fucked!

Where the hell are my cookies?!!

On the Nintendo Wii - Resident Evil : The Umbrella Chronicles
Similiar to a Time Crisis Game with the addition of Wii movements, this game I guess is one of those games where it is not aimed at Nintendo's key demographic (people with Wii fit and kiddie games). The bobbing of the camera does bring about a seasickness feeling though
That's what you get for touching my ass! Eat electricity creep!
On the Xbox 360 - Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2
Can you believe it's the same view but not at the same time? Not much can be said about the game but that it is one that you can easily fall in love with along with Black Ops (threesome?).

I'm on Halo Reach
I'm on CoD Modern Warfare 2

Assassin's Creed II
Ezio kicks some ass and making your own villa is so cool. Assassin's Creed Brotherhood is set to be released this week and the content looks really awesome so far from using tanks and parachute and commanding your group of assassins also known as the Brotherhood.
Even though it was set in Rome, you can't help but feel like a ninja!

On the Playstation 3 - Little Big Planet
Sackboy is the cutest thing! especially when he's fully customizable. The game is really fun and uses the 6 axis controller to an extent. It's simple and follows a left to right manner but it's so much more than that. You can latch onto, pull objects, use teamwork to complete challenges and more. The user-made content instantly created a large fanbase and have them begging for more. LBP 2 got pushed back for release back is on its way.
Thanks Avantika for the fun times!
Hulk SMASH!
I'm Sam Worthington in my new movie!
Hail Ezio! Hail the brotherhood!
Games I also like on the PS3 include - Killzone 2 and Uncharted 2
The new Kinect and Move in my opinion is not my cup of tea. The most movement I'll do for gaming is activating STAR POWER for Guitar Hero ^^
