Plug for design

Holy shit! People still read my blog even though I haven't posted anything new since forever.
I feel like a hermit these days. It's so scheduled that there simply is no "me" time or time to hang out with friends since it is all assignments piling on top of one another. Double deadline this week along with a editorial running in the background plus a resubmission is the only reason I get no sleep. So I alway start the next day tired, take siblings to school, drag myself through a full day at Raffles College of Design and Commerce, Drive home at 8, have dinner then get some more work done and this vicious cycle starts all over again.
There'll be an exhibition of my work sometime next week and I hope my friends (what friends?) will come. I feel kinda depressed by my lack of interaction between people. Oh well. This assignment ain't gonna do itself.

Sneak peek on what is gonna be displayed at the exhibition

Garba

Had an awesome night out.
While the rugby game was going on,New North Road was blocked off so everybody was like looking for parking far away from the venue while I just parked at my uni and just walked under the bridge and I'm already there! ^^ win
Feet are still a bit sore but it was worth it. I was ringing the bell like a bawse!
It's crazy how many indians I know which is A LOT!
It's funny how my indian mates find it surprising that it's my third year at Garba.
Yup. First time was with Alastair celebrating Ashreya's birthday / daylight savings
Second time was with Purnima and celebrating Alastair's birthday.
Third time was with everyone and basically celebrating with everybody else
To the indian guys who let me join their group - Thanks for giving me the headsup during the bhangra freestyle session, you guys were awesome.
To the girl with the glasses in the purple sari -  you looked beautiful.
To the girl with the green and purple sari - we dance like so in sync, it made me wonder if I'm dancing good or if you're dancing as bad as me
To Nikul and the boys, shot for starting up the macarena, dance battle with the chicks, lifting me up on your shoulders for like a good minute or so >_<

Disappointed at these two because you guys didn't dress up
Store my kurta till next year

To everyone else, you guys made the night even better! Till next year

Happy Birthweek & Auckland Art Gallery

So haven't post in a while (ages) so let's get back into the habit of things
Currently listening to:
Song - Beyonce - 1+1 ( It's been on replay the whole week. Such a good song. Can't wait for the album and your beautiful kid. Extremely jealous with such cool and talented parents )
Mat Kearney - Sooner or Later ( His new album "Young Love" got released recently so I'm pretty stoked about that. Lights' "Siberia" album comes out in October so getting stoked for that )
Band / Artist - Mohombi ( Sounds like Shaggy mixed with some Jay Sean with songs like Coconut Tree with Nicole Scherzinger and collab with Nelly in Miss Me )
Frank Ocean ( downloaded his Nostalgia mixtape. He's starting to get more known. How come this guy ain't got more hype? His cover for MGMT's Electric Feel is pretty crap though. Pmac is also an artist I really like that's under rated right now too)

So last week was my birthday but it felt a birthweek.
Monday - the usual - Facebook lol'n at things and checking events, Tumblr reblogging, Twitter tweeting, taking siblings to and from school
No biggie. Pretty average day for me
Tuesday - the usual with the added bonus of going to lunch with friend at Velvet Burger for a pre-birthday lunch. 2 for 1 Tuesday >_<

Javed: Dafaq?! Ajay: I bought my brother a burger and I got the free one.Good karma and free food!
Matt: The food was orgasmic
Before Matthew's makeover
Sexiest picture of the back of Mario's hand ever

Crazy faces
Wednesday - the usual but dinner with family and there was cake!
Can't wait to om nom nom on cake!
Cake?! For me?!
I think they got my asian name wrong lol
Thurday - the usual, replying to fb messages and texts, went and did some retail therapy. Scored my self these
Keen to collect the entire collection of A-Z. ^ It's only from C-E

Friday - the usual. Seemed pretty boring. Worked on some art ideas but somehow ended up with me drawing various drawings of Deadpool.
Saturday seems promising. With the All Blacks whipping France 37-17, our table at Zap 4 was seated right in front of a TV while eating dinner. Awesome!

Finished watching the game next door at Sal's pizzas and catching up with my mate Storm. Then it was a night out on the town!
Cool kids except Tyson. He kept not finishing his drink LOL
Sunday - Sleeping in. Yesssssssssh!
My 19th  birthweek in a nutshell

So my second week on break from Raffles? What do I do?
Go to AU campus. Ironic huh? Don't go to uni but go to uni lol
Gabe organized a Velvet Burger outing. My indecisiveness led me to try purchasing a 2 for 1 after 6pm even though it only clocked 2 minutes past 6. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
Swore I had a 2 for 1 at midnight one time.
Plus Yuhang does not get my maths. If I'm paying for 3/4 of a burger and Yuhang pays for 1/4 of a burger, you would've got 1 burger. Since it's 2 for 1, you're getting two burgers for the price of 1 which us two just paid for. What is two 1/4? 1/2. Dude! Simple maths! but somehow, everybody got mindfucked.
Next day, chillin' with Susanna and totally had to kill some time. Met up with some roskill homies.  Shout out to Sophie, Alisi, Lita, Terina, Jaz "Spirit fingers", Rachel "Beyonce", Kunaal, Ue, Philip, Arthur and Jaiman. We hit up the Auckland Art Gallery afterwards

Damn the infinity room was so awesome!

Live Below the Line

Live below the line is this fundraising campaign I'm doing aiming on achieving, in my opinion, the most important Millenium Development Goal which is eradicating extreme poverty and hunger.

I'll be eating under $2.25 to raise awareness that extreme poverty does exist and can be combated.

People across New Zealand are doing exactly the same as me to better understand the daily challenges faced by 1.4 billion people who live under $2.25 each day on food.

So in the next 5 days, I'll be living "below the line"

No food to munch on, no raiding the fridge or pantry, no midnight snacking. For every dollar you donate, The Glenn Family trust will match it. Dollar for dollar

Give generously

My menu for today
Breakfast - I had 2 and a glass of water
Was snacking on peanuts throughout lunch (saving some for tomorrow too)  Dinner was about half a bowl of rice. Most probably gonna have the same tomorrow

Now Gabe is trying to convince me to go Mexicali tomorrow night.
Sure bro! but I ain't gonna be eating anything

You can call me a dreamer

So after the party, I dropped Annaliesa and Joanne home, I went straight to bed and this random and wierd dream occurred. (it's wierd because it's so damn detailed) *insert dream sequence music*
It was dark and foggy and frikking cold and a similiar night to this. We're driving home from a house party (dunno whose) So Susanna Cho is driving my car (sober driver I guess), Matt Yee is riding shotgun, Timothy Delaghetto, Karina Siew and Ricky Shucks is sitting in the center and I'm sleeping on "mystery person"s lap [ps it's a dream ;)]
So we're driving east to drop Matt home but Susanna misses her exit at a Gossamer Drive roundabout. TWICE. Then I forgot some part of the dream and it ends up with me driving, mystery girl and Karina Siew (chatting) in the back seat and Timothy (who was singing with Byran Adam "Everything I Do" on the stereo) on the and Ricky (asleep) in the middle seat. I'm guessing Matt and Susanna got home in one piece.
The music dramatically changes to Kanye West "All Of The Lights" Timothy sings along while texting his mrs. I pull up on the side of the road to take a leak (it's the truth) and at the same time, Karina gets a text that she's got an assignment to hand in real soon but she's only part way through it. So while I was . . . you know . . going to the bathroom outside, Karina hops in the front seat and drives off with my car. Massive 'WTF' on my face. I break out into a sprint, chasing after MY CAR! She drives it for like 500 metres then stops. I catch up to it then she drives off again. I was freezing my ass off! I started running and the car stops suddenly. I smacked into the back of my car. Guess it hurt like a bitch. She keeps apologizes the whole time while I'm driving. More stuff gets blurred out and only the guys are left.
Ricky is awake and we all ended up cracking jokes the whole ride there.
Drop the homies at the airport and that's about the time I woke up.
One of the wierder dreams I've had in a while. Is my subconscience trying to tell me something? Is this dream interpretable? I'm gonna start writing this stuff down.
I'm off to bed now. What will I dream of next?

To the skuxx we all know!

First of all, shout out to Edric whose turning 21 today. The old man skux in Deluxe! Helluva party! Giselle with her parseltongue, Anna and Lili with their Fresh Prince of Bel Air rap, the big dance circle right down to the kpop music. (One tagalog track - Black Eyed Peas "Bebot")

Watch The Throne

Been listening to a lot of Watch the throne by Jay-Z and Kanye West.
Gotta say, a lot of thought went into this album.
And from time to time, I like to rep the "All Black Everything"
One instance was Grad dinner in 2010.
My outfit was quoting Will Smith
"Black suit, the black shades, the black shoes
Black tie with the black attitude
New style, black Raybans, I'm stunnin', man"

Just highlighting some quotes that appealled to me
and the meaning behind them

The hook for Made In America highlights two influential men
(MLK and Malcolm X) and their wives along
Virgin Mary and Earthly father Joseph and how these components
help Kanye and Jay-Z reflect on how they "made it in America"

In Niggas In Paris
"I'm liable to go Michael, take your pick
Jackson, Tyson, Jordan, Game 6"
Jay-Z names the famous Michaels
but is also paying respect to Biggie
Game 6 was also Michael Jordan's
6th NBA Champ title with Chicago Bulls

In Illest Motherf*cker Alive
"Unless you bad as Naomi Russell
I mean a lot of niggas got money
So basically, Russell ain’t the only Russell
Russell Brand, Russell Crowe
Zero Zero Zero Zero, a whole lot of 0’s"
Kanye does a shout out to Russell Crowe
since he came by their recording studio.
That's boys as!

In Who Gon Stop Me
"Black cards, black cars, black on black, black broads
Whole lotta money in a black bag
Black strap: you know what that's for"
All Black everything!!

I also love Beyonce's hook in Lift Off

Rap music as not always
about money and hoes
